SlimDrivers Free Software for Automatic Drivers Update, Backup, and Restoration
SlimDrivers is free Windows
software that offers several ways for the Windows drivers’ maintenance,
developed by Slimware Utilities. Software allows to automatically updating hardware
drivers for your computer, which is especially useful, when you have installed hardware
not included in the ongoing Windows Updates. In these cases, you may be needed
to update drivers manually. SlimDrivers uses a cloud based database to find
latest version of all drivers installed on your computer, and lets you install
them easily. It can also backup drivers to your hard drive for further use and
restore the as needed upon computer maintenance or operating system upgrade.
The limitation of the free software
version is option to update the drivers one-by-one only in manual mode, while
commercial version called DriverUpdate
allows for "Download All" and advanced automation functionality.
SlimDrivers has
user-friendly and simply to understand interface. For drivers’ backup and
restoration, it populates a driver list, which somewhat reminds the list of the
hardware devices, appearing in Windows Device Manager. One of the drawbacks is
that SlimDrivers, however, does not have the option to select only non-Windows
drivers, or third party drivers. Also, the software does not work on backing up
drivers for the hardware components, which are not connected to the system at
the time of the backup procedure performance.
