ALISON hosts over seven hundred and fifty courses with a
wide range of subject categories. From digital literacy to economics, and from
psychology to nursing there is something for everyone to learn.
Our course material comes from Subject Matter Experts –
Google, Microsoft and the World Health Organization among others. The content
is redesigned digitally for an immersive, interactive and enriched learning
experience.
How does
certification work?
To fully complete a course, you must study all sections
of the course (100% progress and a green tick beside each section) and score at
least 80% in each assessment. Once satisfactorily complete, your certificate
will be available to purchase from the My Certificates section of your account.
How will I be
assessed?
Assessments are built in to each course and are generally
in the format of a quiz. Some courses have assessments throughout; most have
just one at the end. You will come to each assessment as you work through the
course. All materials for a course (modules, assessments, extra resources,
reading materials, forums) are also accessible from the course outline page,
displayed once "Start course" is clicked. There are no fees to take
assessments.
How long do
courses take to complete?
The average time to complete a course is given on the
courses factsheet. As a general rule, comprehensive computer courses such as
ABC-IT and the full Microsoft Digital Literacy program can take anywhere from
10-20 hours to complete fully, while some courses in the Business and Health
categories can be completed within 1-2 hours. There is no time limit on
completing a course, so learners can study entirely at their own pace.

One of the most popular courses, created to Improve your
computer skills and IT knowledge. ABC IT covers the basic concepts of computing
and teaches how computing can be an everyday feature of life and work. It
covers basic Microsoft Office computer applications and touch typing training.
This free online course examines the fundamentals of
network security and covers topics such as active and passive attacks on
networks, encryption, symmetric and asymmetric key systems, authentication
using certification authorities, and access control using passwords and
firewalls.

want to learn more about network security or students who are interested in a
career as an IT or network administrator.
Microsoft Excel 2010 is one of the most popular software
applications worldwide and is part of the Microsoft Office 2010 productivity
suite. This free online course will help you switch to Excel 2010 from a
previous version of the software, and will give you a thorough knowledge and understanding
of Excel and its applications if you have never used it before. You can use
Excel to analyze data, for example, in accounts, budgets, billing and many
other areas. You learn how to navigate this revised version of Excel, exploring
